NCM is situated on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. We pay respects to them, especially their Elders and storytellers, as well as all First Peoples, nationwide. NCM acknowledges that communication technologies have a long history here, far longer than European occupation.

The National Communication Museum (NCM) is an independent charity with no recurring government funding.

Everything we do, from exhibitions, to education programs and research, is made possible by people who believe in what we're building.

We are living through one of the most significant technological revolutions since the beginnings of industrialisation. Now more than ever, Australians need a museum that questions our relationship with technologies and the roles they play in our lives – an independent voice, not beholden to any platform, any government, or any commercial interest.

NCM Patrons Circle

The NCM Patrons Circle is an invitation to help shape the future of NCM. As a Patron, your support directly funds three priorities:

  • Education Programs — Expanding our reach with a particular focus on young women and girls in STEM, reducing barriers to entry and addressing the critical gaps created by rapid technological change.

  • Our Collection — Safeguarding an extraordinary technological collection of objects with great significance to Australia's heritage, and continuing to build it for future generations.

  • NCM Studio — Growing our in-house team of technologists: the creative engine of NCM, driving research, experimental practice, and open-source solutions for communities across Australia.
