NCM is situated on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. We pay respects to them, especially their Elders and storytellers, as well as all First Peoples, nationwide. NCM acknowledges that communication technologies have a long history here, far longer than European occupation.

We are all about connection, and we can’t wait to do some platonic matchmaking in a speed dating inspired event with a FRIEND twist. Date a machine, a human, a chat bot, another visitor, an artist, a curator, an exhibition!

Have you tried dating someone who doesn’t ask you a single question, gives you attitude, a blank stare, or doesn’t even respond? Well same…. Our robotic and tech friends sometimes don’t always show up to the conversation with the same enthusiasm. Try making friends with a 60’s psychotherapist chat bot! Don’t worry, our humans are usually more friendly.

Embrace the authenticity of an awkward first date. We’ll have some FRIEND inspired conversation prompt cards and our host Shu Ezackial will help you break the metaphorical ice, interrupt you with prompts that help you understand FRIEND a little more, and generally ease your path through a friending experience unlike any other.

You'll be fast friends in no time.

Spots on the day are limited, doors open shortly before 1.30pm.
