Two-day workshop

Secondary Students

Presented in collaboration with our partners at Audio Technica On the first day of this workshop, students will explore basic microphone and interface setup including their functions for the recording process, work in groups to create a concept for a podcast and work together in groups to learn the process of recording, editing and publishing a podcast episode across various software programs. On the second day of this workshop, students will be introduced to electronic music production using Ableton Live. We will explore sampling and beat making, MIDI instruments and basic editing principles. Day 1: Workshop starts at 10:00am Creating a Podcast concept 10:30-12:00pm Lunch break at 12:00pm Podcast Recording and exploring different approaches 12:30-2:00pm Second break at 2:00pm Podcast editing principles 2:30-4:00pm Workshop ends at 4:00pm Day 2: Workshop starts at 10:00am Introduction to Ableton and MIDI instruments 10:30-12:00pm Lunch break at 12:00pm Exploring sampling, loops and virtual instruments 12:30-2:00pm Second break at 2:00pm Create and edit an original song in Ableton 2:30-4:00pm Workshop ends at 4:00pm Students should bring snacks and lunch with them, all materials such as laptops and equipment are provided.
